If I’m Single For One More Second I Will Cut Somebody

I see so many single sisters really struggling with their singleness. They’re on the hunt. They think about their future husband daily. They might even be in sexual sin because of it.

Is this you?

I sympathize with you, as does Christ (Hebrews 4:15), but may I ask you, why isn’t He enough?

If the most Perfect Prince in existence–God Himself–does not completely satisfy you, do you think an imperfect, prone-to-sin human-being will?

Now, I’m not talking to single mothers who really have it tough. Though I would encourage you to also apply what I’m about to share with the other single sisters. It can be hard, but Jesus can still be enough for you. I would also encourage you to seek help from other sisters that will volunteer to baby-sit if your children are young.

Now single sisters just desiring a godly man because you’re lonely or want male affection, please hear me:

You are never alone.

I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”-Matthew 28:20

If you feel alone, that is because you are not drawing near to Jesus.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.-James 4:8

Jesus gives you all the attention in the world. He never sleeps, He’s always got His eyes on you. His Spirit lives in your heart. He calls you His Bride. It doesn’t get more intimate than that (for more on being the bride of Christ, visit this post I wrote on the topic).

If you aren’t satisfied with being single, you just need to fall at the feet of Jesus. He promises to make your joy complete (John 15:11). Get before God and just take your spiritual clothes off. Get real with Him. Pour your heart out to Him as if venting to a best friend.

Don’t be shy. Tell Him how badly you want more of Him. Ask Him to help you want Him badly! Ask for His love to overwhelm and consume you.

Pursue Him like you would the hottest, godliest man you know (being that He is a consuming fire and God, He actually is). Read your Bible daily. Pray often. Fellowship with His people (confess your struggles to them, pray with them, serve them, talk about Jesus together).

You reap what you sow. Sow a faithful, loving pursuit of Jesus every day, and watch how He sows peace, joy, and contentment right back into your heart.

Much love to you,
