My precious brothers and sisters, I am so encouraged this morning by the faithful love of our Father. How the Supreme Ruler and Creator of the Universe—of all things—called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
I encourage you to stop for a moment and remember the darkness He called you out of …
My darkness was a broken and defeated heart. I had given all the love I could muster at the time to a guy who tried to embrace it, but eventually rejected it—three times. Have you experienced that: giving your whole heart to another broken human being in hopes that they’d take care of it and trust you with theirs in return, only to find they couldn’t? It’s so heart-breaking, especially if you’ve experienced it repeatedly—let alone with the same person.
But I thank the King, Jesus Christ, that He didn’t reject me when I cried out to Him, though I had rejected His love—sometimes unwittingly and others without thinking twice—many times before.
February 22nd 2009, I finally answered His call out of the darkness of that relationship, of trying to satisfy my heart’s longing with human love, and surrendered to His. And today I rejoice in the promise He gave me that night, and has fulfilled, and continues to fulfill to this day—almost five years later. I encourage you to do the same, family.
Here’s what He told me:
May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord ! May the King answer us when we call. (Psalms 20:1-9 NKJV)
