Then the Lord said to me, “Go again; show love to a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, just as the Lord loves the Israelites though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.” So I bought her for 15 shekels of silver and five bushels of barley. I said to her, “You must live with me many days. Don’t be promiscuous or belong to any man, and I will act the same way toward you.” For the Israelites must live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or household idols. Afterward, the people of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come with awe to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days. (Hosea 3:1-5)
Are you in a relationship with a man who does not love Jesus? Who does not obey His commands? This is considered adultery in the Lord’s eyes.
This man is an “other god” in your life. And far greater than 15 shekels of silver was the price Jesus paid for you on that cross. He spilled His own blood. He gave His perfect life for you. Are you going to trade that precious gift for a man who doesn’t really love you? How can he if He doesn’t know Love Himself—Jesus?
I pray you choose to cut off that relationship and live with Jesus many days. That you will be reading His Word daily, worshipping Him in song, praying to Him as much as you hang with and talk to your boyfriend.
Then as you seek the Lord in these ways, you will discover His goodness. All that you were craving, all that you thought you needed from your ex will be completely overwhelmed by the reality that Christ was all you ever needed, and all that you will ever need.
His goodness cannot be compared to anyone or anything, though it surrounds us in everything that He created. Just consider your own body, how your heart and lungs and immune and nervous systems, how all the millions of things making up your body work on your behalf to keep you alive. How oxygen works with carbon dioxide, keeping you alive. How the sun’s rays keep you alive. How gravity keeps you on the ground. I can go on and on about God’s goodness that lavishes you every day, but until you seek and surrender to Him yourself, you will not grasp the depth, height, length and width of His love for you.
I pray you stop committing adultery on the very one who deserves all of your heart and devotion. That you would hear Him pleading through me to your heart, hoping you will choose to embrace Him.
Embrace His love today. Don’t wait a minute longer.
He is waiting.
