Manliness and testosterone are not bad things. Too often does our society, our media-culture delineate and degrade men for simply being men. Their natural, God-woven design is as special and wonderful as a woman’s God-woven design.
Greed, control, and abuse are not byproducts of testosterone. I know a man who has never once raised his voice at his wife. His wife had this to say about him:
What’s on my mind? My incredible husband is on my mind. He is so good to me and loves me with a tender, fierce love. Daily he showers me with praise and tells me I’m beautiful. He’s so persistent that he actually has me believing him. Ha!Ha!
This may sound unbelievable, but *believe* me when I say that he has never once raised his voice at me or uttered an unkind word to me. I can’t recall one time when he’s been angry at me, and that includes (almost) 34 years of marriage!
Yep, he’s definitely a keeper! I love that man!!!
So being a man is not wrong or bad. I thank God for men. We women need them as much as they need us. Each sex has its own God-given niches and traits that benefit the other and can cause an amazing team and bring about the most beautiful outcomes such as:
1.) Oneness in marriage
From the beginning, God created a sacred covenant specific and exclusive to these opposite sexes and said of them:
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24 KJV)
In God’s design, only can a man and woman join themselves together in marriage and become one. This is a beautiful and holy covenant. It is honorable and powerful when a man and woman are devoted to living for God. They experience this powerful, supernatural oneness that brings about true love displayed in sacrificial service, nurturing support, protection, respect, honor, and trust.
Only a man and woman can come together and produce life. This is a wondrous phenomenon that bonds a loving couple so deeply and intensifies their capacity or understanding of love. Man and woman create the most precious earthly entity in the universe: a human life. This incredible production of life is again, God-ordained for the man and woman:
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply …” (Genesis 1:28 KJV)
“Didn’t the One God make us with a remnant of His life-breath? And what does the One seek? A godly offspring.” (Malachi 2:15)
“Sons are indeed a heritage from the LORD, children, a reward.” (Psalm 127:3
And let us not forget the most amazing of all:
3.) Together, both man and woman represent the likeness of God
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26 KJV)
A woman alone does not display the fullness of God’s likeness, but alongside man, the two reveal what God is like. Masculine and feminine in ways, parts of God’s imprint are on both man and woman. The man contains the strong, protective, and providing nature of God, whereas the woman has the nurturing, gentle, and helpful nature of God. When both man and woman are honored for what they are: prized creations of God chosen to manifest His nature on earth, to be His offspring, beautiful and miraculous things happen.
As Christians, may we always remember the command to honor one another, and understand we are made from God, highly cared for by Him and entrusted with powerful and supernatural responsibilities and privileges. Thus, we must not be bitter toward one another, but truly reverent in the way we treat each other. God does punish us for dishonoring His creation and the commands He laid out for us regarding one another. May we fear and love Him, and love what He has accomplished in both man and woman.
