Ladies, Who Should You Fight For?

Sisters, do you view Jesus as someone totally worth living for, worth listening to and obeying, worth spending time with; worth loving?

We love because He first loved us. Love literally is not possible in a world where Jesus does not exist. He showed us what love is and it’s Him! Plain and simple: God is love, Jesus and God are one. Outside of them, there is no perfect love. (1 John 4:16-19)

That means there isn’t a single human being on the planet–including yourself–who can “complete” or fulfill or love you sufficiently.

True love paid the price to forever love you perfectly. Jesus died so if you stopped looking elsewhere for love, and instead trusted in His love, you can be forgiven for every single sin you’ve ever done or thought, and be freely welcomed into heaven where He will faithfully love you for all eternity!

If He isn’t worthy, then who or what is more worthy than Him? What or who deserves more devotion and attention?

I’ve been getting this conviction more and more to live to please Jesus. The world, movies, books, TV shows, music, it’s the most popular message out now: you should be pleased, you are number one. Humanism is really all about the human and his or her goodness and worthiness. The problem is, who in the world decides what’s good and why, and who is worthy and why?

God is the whole reason behind morality. Without God, morality will eventually crumble and decay until there’s nothing left of it. Don’t believe me? Take a look at our society and how much we’ve fallen. We are now becoming evermore what this biblical prophecy described would happen in the last times:

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires.(Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.)-2 Timothy 33:1-7

Today I will fight the devil and my own selfish desires that shout, “Live for you! Do what you want!” And instead, I will fight to love and please Jesus. Will you?

Why you shouldn’t be modest

I remember walking through the mall in my teen years, rocking a pair of skin-tight Brazilian jeans (they were so the thing back then)—a pair I wore specifically because I believed they accentuated my assets, i.e., made my bottom look bigger.

So here I am, in my baby-blue Brazilian, skin-squeezin’ jeans and a spaghetti strap top and I’m pretty sure I was clackin’ around in heels, and this group of dudes begin yelling lewd comments at me across the mall for everyone in the vicinity to hear.

I got so upset, cussed at ‘em, flipped ‘em off, the whole nine. But never once did I recall the fact that I wore those jeans for the sake of appearing more desirable. I wanted the attention, but I guess I expected it to come across in a more respectful manner.

Thing is, I quite plainly, was dressed in a way that shouted sex object, yet I didn’t want to be treated like a sex object. I wanted to be pleasing to the sight of some men, as long as their pleasure was displayed in a manner I approved of.

I now understand that most single or unmarried men (or even married ones!) don’t look at women who are dressed super sexy and think: I better be low-key about all the lustful thoughts she’s inciting. The way they see it is you’re asking for the attention, so they’re gonna give it to you. And more specifically, they’re thinking along the lines of; this chick is asking to be f***ed.

Forgive the vulgarity, but I’m just being real. Have you ever heard men talk to each other when no women are around? Well, I have. A lot. I edit weddings. The videographer, who is a man, goes into the groom’s hotel room or wherever he’s getting ready and records him and his groomsmen as they get dressed. The stuff they say about the bride and about women is so disgusting and degrading that I often have to mute the audio entirely and sometimes wish I could leave in those parts so the bride sees how much her groom respects her in front of his boys. The things I hear make my blood boil and skin crawl. But the truth of the matter is that all of these brides lived with the guy beforehand. In other words, they already were sleeping with him. So frankly, men simply don’t respect a woman who sleeps with them before marriage. Period. He can act like he does, but there’s someone he boasting to about your body and sexcapades.

Have you experienced this kind of lewd attention before? Were you wearing super short-shorts, a midriff top, showing off cleavage or your belly? Lots of skin, lots of skin-tight-leave-hardly-any-room-for-the-imagination attire will incite and inflame a man’s lust. There’s no way to get around it unless he closes his eyes or avoids you or tries super-duper hard to only look at your face, even though his peripherals can see everything else. Even married men. Very few will try to look away, while others will be picturing you naked on top of them.

Now, if you’re truly fine with this, that’s your prerogative. However, if it makes you uncomfortable and you’d like a lot more respect, then take it from me, think twice about what you put on. And no, I’m not being legalistic. I’m not gonna sit here and list a bunch of non-Kosher clothes to wear because at the end of the day, most of us women aren’t stupid. We know what sexy looks like and some of us like how it feels. So the clothes you have that you deem sexy are the red flag raisers you should reconsider. And covering up doesn’t equate frumpy and dumpy. You can keep it covered and keep it classy. You can be modest and still like what you’re wearing.

And if you’re a Christian like me, then remember: you don’t just choose modesty because it’s a New Testament command (see 1 Timothy 2:9-10, 1 Peter 3:1-4), but we do so for a love for God and others. We want to please God. Sensuality, lustfulness, selfishness, all of that displeases Him. If we truly grasp all that God the Father did for us when He sent His Son to this earth to love and die for us, we won’t have a problem covering up some or reconsidering our wardrobe to ensure it’s honorable to Him. He wants us to “not only look out for our own interests, but for the interests of others as well.” That means if you choosing your clothing more wisely will help some fellow Christian brothers not to stumble, then you’ve just pleased God with that unselfish and considerate decision.

At the end of the day, I’m not modest for legalism or man’s sake, but for Christ’s sake, and for a love for Him and others. I also want to be a good example for women, because I love you, too. 🙂

Did this resonate with you? Feel free to share your thoughts in a comment.

Sisters, you don’t know what you’re missing, but I’ll give you the scoop.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.-Ephesians 1:3-4

In Jesus’ name, I PRAY you sisters gain some more understanding of how amazing God is and how much you’re loved by the most incredible and perfect person in existence. Let the unpacking begin!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Quick debunking: God DOES NOT promise to give us every earthly so-called blessing. Many THINK mansions, luxury cars, extravagant vacations, etc. are all earthly blessings God will give if we just ask Him to or bribe Him enough with generous church donations to greedy wolves. God promises to give us every earthly need: food, clothes, water etc. but He does NOT promise to give all Christians health and wealth.

However, He DOES promise that He has ALREADY blessed us with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenly realms. Can we see the heavenly realms? No. Are we in the heavenly realms? Not yet. So then clearly, this again, is not talking about things of the earth, things we can see and feel and handle. HOWEVER, we can SEE the evidence of the Holy Spirit, who is spiritual. God has gifted us with ALL the spiritual blessings He has to offer and MANY of those blessings are given to us through the power of the Holy Spirit who was given to us after we repented of our sins and trusted in Jesus Christ’s perfect life and sacrifice to save us–NOT TRUSTING OURSELVES, our good deeds, our donations, our church dedication and service, etc.

Here’s NINE spiritual blessings we CURRENTLY possess and HAVE ACCESS TO as believers in Christ as Lord:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!-Galatians 5:22-23

Now if you’re not experiencing much of these realities in your life, there’s a simple reason for that:

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.-Galatians 24-25

You haven’t nailed your sinful passions and nature to His cross. You haven’t left them there, but instead, you’re holding onto them. And you’re not allowing the Spirit to lead EVERY part of your life. You don’t get to hold on to some serious separating sins such as any forms of sexual immorality (adultery, pornography/impurity/lust, fornication aka sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, etc.)  and still get to experience the above blessings of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. You MUST let God lead EVERY area of your life by listening to Him, going to Him for advice by reading His word, getting to know what He wants for and from you, and then applying it every day–putting His commands to practice. It’s not impossible to obey God. I’m not saying you’ll be perfect, but He has gifted you His Holy Spirit for a reason: so you have the supernatural power to overcome your sinful desires and instead choose to hear and obey HIS voice and live to please HIM rather than yourself or anyone else.

Which, sisters, believe it or not, you were NOT created to be what YOU think is happy. You were created for these simple, but profound purposes: you were created by God and for God to:

God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. 13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.-Ephesians 1:12-14

You are literally created to please God by praising and glorifying Him, and bringing Him praise and glory! We were not created for ourselves, our dreams, our fun, our happiness. We were created for God’s dreams, God’s happiness, God’s pleasure! Seriously:

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.-Ephesians 1:5

Too many Christians said a prayer to accept Jesus, only to then go on with their lives, not reading the Bible much, and just continuing to pursue their dreams, desires, relationships, wants, happiness, career choice, etc. They’re not living to please the God they claimed to accept as their Lord, but instead are living to please themselves, to do whatever makes them happy. And many don’t even know this is what they’re doing, and that God DOES NOT WANT THEM TO, and literally has DIFFERENT PLANS for them that He wants and EXPECTS them to do! But we absolutely cannot do ANYTHING of eternal value, that is, do ANYTHING that is pleasing to God, if we do not seek Him and discover what pleases Him in the first place!

So I’m stopping here, because this blog will be very long if I continue to unpack these verses, but let’s start here: who are you living to please, yourself, someone else, or God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ? If you’re living for your own happiness, choose to stop, pick up your bible, and discover what God wants from you and desires from you. And guess what, His plans for you actually WILL be pleasing to you!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.-Romans 12:2-3

Listen, just as your boyfriend or ex wanted sex from you, which was a selfish, lustful desire because he didn’t wanna wait or have to commit himself to you in marriage to earn all of you, and treated you like dirt, and didn’t trust and respect you, God wants you to do things for Him, but unlike your “man”, the Perfect Man, Jesus Christ’s desires for you are good and beneficial to both Him and you AND everyone else in your sphere of influence aka your neighbors–those close to you, your church family, your friends, biological family, coworkers etc. You just don’t know it yet because you haven’t sought those plans out by faithfully getting to spend time listening to God via His word, the Bible.

I’m a bible-thumper for a reason, and this is just one of hundreds of reasons. Do you want to know the plans God has for you? Read His word, pray, and ask Him to speak to you through it, to show you His desires for you, and then begin to choose to obey and you’ll swiftly experience many of the spiritual blessings He has already given you in Christ.

Natasha nugget: you’re probably settling for whacked out guys and friendships because you have yet to discover the awesome blessings Jesus Christ has given you. You’re looking around for what’s missing, all the while you’re just ignorant of what you already have.

Whenever someone rejects or hates you, know this…

As a writer–and a human being–there are times when God needs to remind me that no matter how bad or good my writing is, ultimately, it is He who gives favor.

“For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.”-Psalm 5:12

“And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs…”-Daniel 1:9

“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”-Genesis 39:21

“The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.”-Proverbs 21:1

How good is God? Being accepted or rejected is one less thing we have to worry about because ultimately, God knows how to deal with that. And how about Jesus Himself, literally the only perfect person ever, was even accepted by some while rejected by many others–both in His time in human flesh and to this very day!

Jesus knows rejection firsthand, better than anyone on the planet. He’s experienced it millions of times throughout history, and every single day whenever people refuse to follow Him, but instead, follow themselves or someone else.

Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how good, or kind, or awesome you are, people will still reject you. After Jesus raised up a man who’d been dead for four days there were still people who rejected Him and actually wanted to kill Him! Indeed, some people will never ever be pleased or satisfied with you, and you know what, it doesn’t matter, because when you run to Jesus, when you bow to the perfect King, He accepts you, whoever and wherever you are, and transforms your life with His incredible love. He opens His arms and tells you not to fear people, and reminds you that He knows exactly what being rejected, mocked, belittled, despised, and hated is like, to the point of being murdered! So no matter who rejects or hates you, always remember:

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. 20 Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. 21 They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me. 22 They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Anyone who hates me also hates my Father. 24 If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father. 25 This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures[a]: ‘They hated me without cause.’

26 “But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. 27 And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.”-John 15:18-27

Jesus promises never to forsake us. He has sent everyone who trusts in Him to save them His very own Spirit, to live in them and be with them forever. And when you die, or He returns, He will gather you to Himself, where you will be with Him for all eternity in paradise, surrounded and filled with peace, joy, and love.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”-John 14:1-3

Being Single Is Better Than Being Married

You may be thinking: Giiiirrrllll, what are you talking about?

Allow me to explain. I just read:

“I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him. But a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband. I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible. But if a man thinks that he’s treating his fiancée improperly and will inevitably give in to his passion, let him marry her as he wishes. It is not a sin. But if he has decided firmly not to marry and there is no urgency and he can control his passion, he does well not to marry. So the person who marries his fiancée does well, and the person who doesn’t marry does even better. A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord. But in my opinion it would be better for her to stay single, and I think I am giving you counsel from God’s Spirit when I say this.”-‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7:32-40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Single sister, do you believe this? If not, what idea about marriage is preventing you?

Ask yourself. Is it the desire for a special romance? The sense of being wanted? Feeling beautiful?

These desires aren’t necessarily evil, but they can be selfish and misplaced. Do you know these longings can be satisfied by Jesus? Do you believe that? If you don’t, then you haven’t experienced Him fulfilling those needs yet. And He can. Nothing is too difficult for Him and He actually desires to! He desires you.

Do you know that He designed you, weaved you together while you were created in your mother’s womb?

When no one had yet to lay eyes on you, His eyes were on you. He literally was forming you. And even beyond growing your body from a fertilized “egg” to a human body with limbs and a brain, He was giving you specific personality traits that would aid in accomplishing His will for you.

You Then He breathed on you. Literally breathed His own breath of life into you and with that breath, gave you an eternal spirit. That spirit remained with you from the moment He gave you life in the womb onward.

Your unique, everlasting spirit reminds you there’s more to life, that there is a hereafter. That there’s something, someone bigger than you out there. It’s a “God-shaped” hole that can only be filled by the One who gave it to you.

He is a romantic God. He is the Creator of love. Not Hollywood. Not man. The bible says God Himself is love. Love started with Him and it comes from Him.

He is the first to rescue a man and a woman in distress. He is the Savior. He is a Prince. He is a King. He is a Father. He is a Husband. The bible says all of this about Him.

So if you believe the bible is true, then choose to believe He is these things for you. Ask Him to show you He is. Ask Him to help you believe this. If there is one thing I’ve learned from my eight years of following Jesus is that He hears and answers.

Don’t let the devil distract you with the cheap counterfeit version of Love Himself through romance novels and films, or your girlfriends’ relationships and flings.

Open your bible, go to the New Testament and let Jesus show you what real love looks like and how much He loves you

If you give Him a chance to woo you, you will become ever stronger, and more confident and content in your relationship with Him and His love for you. Then you won’t be so down about your singleness. You wil have joy despite it. He did that for me and He can do that for you.

Much love,
Natasha

I Really Want A Boyfriend, What Do I Do?

To my O so precious younger sisters in Christ:

Before I stopped chasing guys, and pursued Jesus, I treated God like medicine. I used Him when I felt bad, but once He made me better, I stopped taking Him in. Instead, I put Him away, and kept hurting myself with relationships I wasn’t ready for.

And though I didn’t know it until I was eighteen-years-old, that’s the reason I kept craving a boyfriend. I was looking for the love only Jesus could give me. I wasn’t satisfied because I kept leaving God and not listening to Him. I kept ditching Him and getting into relationships. I didn’t need a boyfriend, I needed Jesus. When I finally realized that, I stopped pursuing guys and started really pursuing Jesus. He began flooding my life with love and joy and for once in my life I FINALLY didn’t need or care to have a boyfriend or attention from a guy.

And guess what else? When I was ready for marriage (believe it or not, at age eighteen, after I surrendered to Jesus, I didn’t want a boyfriend anymore, but I looked forward to some day having a husband. I met Jon and we were ready by a year. After a year and two months, he proposed.

Being ready for marriage within a year or so is super important because of sexual temptation. As our pastor who married us would say, “if you’re in a relationship and not married by a year, you’re playing with fire.” So at 14, you’ll have to wait at least four years to be physical with your husband. You think you could really refrain that long the more and more you begin liking a guy? That’s why teenage relationships are very dangerous.

I know it can be especially hard going to public or private school, and God knows your friends are probably boy crazy, but when you allow Jesus to blow your mind with His love, you’ll be strong enough to wait on your future husband, and you’ll be the girl your friends come to when they’re heart broken and going through boy drama. If you find that satisfaction in Jesus and no longer seek a guy’s attention, it will be such a powerful example, you’ll be so extremely different, God will use you to save your unsaved friends.

Remember, YOU are the light your friends NEED. As a Christian, you alone have what they need to escape heart break AND more importantly, hell.

Maybe try to switch your focus and instead of finding your identity as some cute guy’s girlfriend, you realize you’re so much more special than that. You’re like a superhero, saving souls from the devil’s grip on their life. You’re a warrior princess, a leader among your friends and younger family members, placed in their lives by God’s will. You have a great mission. Will you train yourself for that mission, or train yourself to just be another girl guys use?

Praying for you,

Bruce Jenner Will Never Be A Real Woman And Here’s Why

To go along with Bruce Jenner’s tragic delusion is to say that there is nothing uniquely special about being a woman; that even a man can be what we are if he merely says he feels like one, and then adds silicone to his chest, castrates himself, and applies makeup. Really? Is that the sum of what our culture deems woman to be?

How can a man feel like he’s a woman if he’s never been one? Has he experienced what it is like to have a life growing within, the way that life saturates our heart with an intense love and a new level of sacrifice and nurturing? Has he given birth and brought life into this world? Of course not, because the eternal order of human life and reproduction says that man cannot bear children.

Indeed, some women are barren, however, their design still begs to create life. And beyond child-bearing, the heart of a woman is beautifully unique, as is the heart of a man. The feminine was fashioned and designed into the woman, not into the man. Her womanly qualities are hers alone — with good reason — as is his manly qualities.

As Stasi Eldredge so gracefully puts it, there are three desires in the heart of a woman: to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, and to unveil beauty. However, there is so much more; our desire for intimacy, for face-to-face closeness, to be listened to, protected, cared for, fought for, and longed for; our desire to take care of our young and our husbands, to make things beautiful, our sensitivity to the emotions of others.

No. A man can and never will be a woman; no matter how much he transfigures himself to outwardly appear as one. Man and woman were created so differently, each so individually unique and beautiful, we complement one another. When God created man, He said it was not good for him to be alone, so He would make someone to help him. God created men and women in such a way that one needs the other; that what one has to offer, the other does not and vice versa. We were uniquely designed to help one another, not to try and become each other.

When a person does not know their Maker, identity crisis is bound to strike. One becomes desperate to find identity in something, sometimes in anything, just to feel belonged.

We are all like orphans stumbling around lost on the earth until our Heavenly Father finds us and brings us home — into His embrace.

The bible tells us that as many as trust in the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ, they become adopted children of God. He now accepts them as His children, and thus, they have been “born again” by His Holy Spirit:

But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. (Galatians 4:4–7 NLT)

This is our true identity: children of God, created for His good pleasure and will. But if we reject Him, all of our lives we will be lost orphans, creating our own false identities.

I was there. My identity shifted with every guy I dated; from what they dressed like and the music they listened to, I embraced and built a false identity that would blend with theirs. Two lost orphans, trying to find themselves, not knowing our true selves were hidden in Christ:

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1–3 NLT)

I can say so joyfully, by the grace of God, I now know my true identity and I have not shifted from it for over nine years.

Thanks to His Spirit within me, this adoption I’ve experienced, I now only become more and more like Jesus. This is not from my own strength, but His alone. Any good in me is from Christ’s Spirit, His transforming power who makes this daughter more and more like her Heavenly Father. My heart is full to overflowing with joy, peace, and love, knowing who my King is and who I am to Him. I pray that Bruce, and many more come to know and enjoy the same.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8–10 NLT)
