Fat Shaming Vs. Beauty Vs. Reality

Hey precious ladies. First, let me say being cruel or unkind or mocking someone because of their appearance is foolish and, well, mean. God via the Bible has lots to say about kindness and the words we speak.

I’ve seen plenty of what I believe to be beautiful plus-sized women who look great and healthy. Call them, “curvy” or “voluptuous,” they’re not “skinny” and that’s totally okay!

But just as there are some who are unhealthily skinny, there are some who are unhealthily overweight.

For example: I have a grandmother who is obese. She was always “big-boned” which was fine. I believe she lived a healthy life in her earlier years. But then she got remarried after divorcing my grandfather…

Her second husband, “Liked fat women,” so he encouraged her to eat up and eventually, she became 200+ lbs–and the number has climbed and climbed. Nine years ago, she almost died from a blood clot which had to do with her weight and immobility. Currently, my grandmother is basically bedridden. With swollen legs, very heavy and hard to move, getting out of bed is a serious workout and she’s fallen more often because of muscle weakness (again, laying in bed means no real exercise of her limbs and without strengthening by means of use, eventually, our bodies grow frail).

She’s been eating better, thanks to my sister who cares for her and has been trying to help her lose weight so she’s more healthy and mobile. But there are people in the family who say to let her be because she’s happy. In reality, she’s quite the opposite, and though eating junk-food and however much food she desires momentarily releases happy chemicals, doesn’t mean she is truly happy and if anything, it sure is a cheap happiness in comparison to the simple but greater happiness of being able to move around and do necessary things like walk to the restroom, bathe, and not be bed-bound. She’s terrified of falling and has grown all the more bound to her bed because of it.

Many Americans are what doctors call “obese” or unhealthily overweight. You don’t even have to be visibly that “fat” in order to have clogged arteries, diabetes, and the like, but the point is that, at a certain point, “fat” can be more easily defined as unhealthy or potentially unhealthy and when a person is medically obese, encouraging them to stay that way, applauding it, etc. isn’t helpful, but harmful…

How many young people suffer from asthma and diabetes, or die prematurely from a heart attack because of fat build up? Again, I’m not for mocking anyone, but I am for being lovingly honest and offering solutions to what sometimes is just ignorance of how unhealthy certain stuff really is, and the addictive chemicals and whatnot in those foods that keep you coming back for more, or often, over-eating stems from deep, unresolved issues so encouraging the person to continue being unhealthily overweight is also encouraging them to ignore the deeper reasons as to why they’re placing their comfort in food.

Now we can offer help and support without openly embarrassing someone. We should be able to voice any concerns if it’s done so with the genuine intent of helping another person. I appreciate those who are honest with me about my issues and sins and offer advice and help me get through. No one is perfect, but man, the honest words and assistance of others can be such a blessing.

So yes, let us be kind to one another, but let us also offer support and help those whose weight has gotten to the point of being problematic to their health, rather than encourage them to continue embracing an unhealthy lifestyle. Not everyone desires to be helped, but we still love them anyway. Our love shouldn’t be dependent upon a person taking our advice or not, love is unconditional, but it also gently speaks the truth.

Christian: Why You May Be Misbehaving

It hit me yesterday: my flesh is acting out because my spirit is starving.
You are what you feed…spiritually speaking.
I’m still a pretty new mom–sixteen months in. Before Arrow was born, I would spend over an hour with God daily; worshipping Him, praying, reading the Word. But after Arrow was born, that all changed. And now that he’s a wild toddler, forget about it. I never get alone-time with God while my son is awake–and that was a problem–a huge problem.
See, we can’t be like Jesus if we’re not spending time with Jesus. Sure, there’s so much God has changed in my life and so many things I’ve overcome and so many ways I’ve grown, but I’m not finished yet. This work of art still has much more work to be done.

Remember the story in the bible when Martha and her sister, Mary were hosting Jesus as their guest? Martha was, “distracted with much serving,” while Mary, “sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.”

Martha was focused on getting tasks done for Jesus while Mary was focused on spending time with Him. And when Martha complained about Mary’s lack of help, Jesus said:

“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”-‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:41-42‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I have been Martha for the past sixteen months: task-focused, serving my family, and hardly spending intimate time with Jesus. And my lack of intimacy with Him was oozing out of me in bad ways.

As of last night I realized that because I’m a mom now, I must be super intentional and strategic with my me-and-Jesus-only time. I also need to be as purposeful with other ways I can get into His presence even in the midst of washing dishes and cleaning up after Arrow.

My son still doesn’t nap much on his own–35 minutes tops and then he wants to sleep for another two hours on me or my husband. This will end before he’s two, but for now, I have to use even this time to focus on God.

I woke up at 5am today and spent time with Jesus. And my goodness, I feel so much more revived and Spirit-filled. My actions and attitudes are also reflecting it. For now, this is what I have to do if I want to function like the child of God I am and spend time with my Beloved. So far, so good.

How about you? How has a different season caused your alone-time with God to change? Are you in a similar boat, and also have to make sacrifices and decisions in order to guard alone-time with Jesus? If you haven’t yet, why not? Life is too short to waste. Get back on track with God today!

Much love, fam!

The Real Reason Why A Man Pushing Premarital Sex Doesn’t Love You

Ladies, if a “Christian” man intends on and expects to have sex before marriage, he does not really love you, and you may not have considered this as the reason why. Stay put; it’s about to get deep.

“Finally then, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us how you must walk and please God — as you are doing — do so even more.

For this is God’s will, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality, so that each of you knows how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not with lustful desires, like the Gentiles who don’t know God. This means one must not transgress against and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses, as we also previously told and warned you. For God has not called us to impurity but to sanctification. Therefore, the person who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who also gives you His Holy Spirit.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:1, 3-8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

The man who purposes to have sex with you before marriage is rejecting God by refusing to abstain from premarital sex. He is rejecting Christ which means if he dies today, according to scripture, he will go to hell:

“Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers … will inherit God’s kingdom.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:9-10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

It’s much deeper than many of us realize. So much of pagan and idol worship involves sex outside of the covenant of marriage. Having sex with temple prostitutes and orgies were popular forms of “worship” and here is why:

God ordained marriage to display the beautiful, holy, intimate relationship He has with His bride the Church. In the bible, the word used for when a man makes love to his wife is “yada.” It is a deep “knowing” hence the reason the bible usually translates it in ways like this, “and Isaac *knew* Rebecca.”

That same word is used often by God when He tells us He will cause us to “know” Him.

“I will take you to be My wife forever. I will take you to be My wife in righteousness, justice, love, and compassion. I will take you to be My wife in faithfulness, and you will know Yahweh.”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭2:19-20‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

God is all about creation pointing back to Him, glorifying Him. The union of a married couple is supposed to help us understand the way God desires us to deeply know and love Him, just as we are deeply loved and known by Him.

Satan, God’s enemy, the fallen angel who hates Jesus more than anyone, as an act of defiance toward Him, takes pleasure in profaning God’s creation, in profaning everything, but ESPECIALLY marriage. Satan warps the creation of true, sacred marital oneness (“sex” as the world calls it), and makes it as vile as possible, hence pornography, rape, homosexuality, beastiality, orgies, etc.

But with Christians, he needs to be much more crafty and less flamboyantly profane to lure them into his trap. Satan’s mission: seduce God’s children whom God loves immeasurably and died to save, trick them into having premarital sex so they can be his greatest weapons to crush God’s heart. After luring a Christian to reject the Holy Spirit and walk into his grasp, engaging in sex outside of God’s covenant of marriage, Satan peers up into the fiery eyes of Jesus and says, “look at Your children. Look at how much they love You.”

Beloved, do not ever let yourself become a flaming arrow in Satan’s hand used to pierce Christ’s heart and trample and spit upon His sacrifice. He died so you can be free from sin, not so that you can keep following Satan.

“But anyone joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Run from sexual immorality! “Every sin a person can commit is outside the body.” On the contrary, the person who is sexually immoral sins against his own body. Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:17-20‬ ‭‬‬

Christian Women And Sexiness

As, “women who profess godliness,” who claim to love Christ, we are His leaders; we are to set the example God wants His people to follow. Inwardly and outwardly, our lives are supposed to point people to Jesus, not ourselves.

Paul wrote about how we need to walk in love, and how if we imitate Jesus, thus walking in love, we will not be sexually immoral or cause our brothers to stumble.

Is it loving to use your body and looks to entice a man and manipulate him into a relationship with you? If you use your flesh to snag a guy, he’s operating in his flesh, and the bible says the mindset of the flesh is death, and that those who walk in the flesh cannot please God. If you use your flesh to reel a brother in, the foundation of your relationship is based on the flesh, and thus, you’re not pleasing God, and your fleshly mindset will lead to the death of your relationship.

I see too many sisters using their faces and bodies to capture a boy. I say boy, because if a brother is swayed by your fleshly manipulation, he’s weak or immature in the faith, and has not built up his spirit-man strong enough to resist temptation.

Ungodly enticement is dishonoring first to God, then to yourself and others. As James says, practice true religion by being unspotted by the ways of this world. Don’t be conformed to their patterns, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

See 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 and Romans 12:2.

You’re a princess of God’s kingdom. He makes you beautiful. Trust Him.

Love,

Your sister, Natasha

I’m 8 Days Away From My Due Date

I’m set to deliver me and sir Jonathan’s first child on February 21st. If I write all the ways God has provided, and all the prayers He’s answered, this post would be at least 10,000 words long. But here are some:

-Jonathan got a second job for a Christian ministry
-I didn’t have morning sickness
-We got blessed with three baby showers
-We have all the essentials; strollers, car seat, bassinet, baby clothes, diapers, baby wipes to last months, pediatrician who’s five minutes away
-All the nursery wants/needs have been gifted to us; changing table, crib (eventually), crib mattress, lamp, crib mobile, sheets, the cute forest animal-themed decorations we wanted
-We haven’t paid for anything for baby out of pocket, not even my prenatal visits
-We got blessed with a new, quality brand-name mattress (ours has been marked in several places by two different dogs and was causing me pain)
-We were working toward getting out of debt and had $500 left that we owed Jonathan’s dad and then randomly received an unexpected check for $500 in the mail. We’re now debt-free
-Jonathan was approved for not one, but six weeks off paid from his higher paying, longer-hours job to bond with baby

God truly is our provider. He has certainly blessed us incredibly and answered so many prayers. I’m blown away by His love and provision, and by His great care for His daughter and son. All the details He paid attention to, even giving unnecessary blessings. He has fiercely protected me and the baby from enemy attacks, and though I’ve become extra clumsy thanks to the increase in hormones, I haven’t fallen once in my entire pregnancy. Every time I stumbled (which was often), His angels caught me.

I just wanted to encourage you all to pray about everything that concerns you, casting your anxieties on Him because He truly does care for you—practically beyond comprehension.

It’s so vital for us to grasp the depth of His love for us and how much we do not deserve it. As we pray for that revelation, we will be compelled to truly surrender all to Him, to live for Him and obey Him because we genuinely love Him and are so grateful for all He has graciously done for us.

I pray a greater understanding of Christ’s love and worthiness to be worshipped is revealed to you that you may offer up your life—the life He’s loaned to you—for nothing but His glory.

Grace and love to you,

Natasha

I Am Woman. I Don’t Use My Body For Power. I Use Something Else.

O, precious sisters, please pray for our country. I just read an article on 45 communist goals to overthrow America and ladies, they are totally accomplishing them. Some of them were discredit the family as an institution, encourage promiscuity and easy divorce, present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy”, undermine the bible, exalt intellectualism, get prayer out of schools, break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV, the list goes on and we totally see these things dominating our culture.

Pray for my generation, Millenials, especially, because many of us are falling prey to these things.

And lastly, pray for me and all of us sisters, that we stand firm in holiness and sanctification, setting the example, not taking part in the corruption of this world, but shining the beautiful and pure light of Christ to the lost, calling them out of the darkness and into a right relationship with the Holy Father.

I pray none of us compromises our morality and that if we have been, we repent. A sister in Christ told me once, “God delights in redeeming our mistakes.” He is O so merciful. It doesn’t matter how far off you are from the holiness of God, He can forgive, cleanse, and restore you. Run into His loving arms while they’re still open, and change your mind about your sin. Hate evil and cling to what is Good–Jesus. You can cry out to Him even now, and He will hear those who are sincere.

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”-Luke 18:10-14

Humble yourself before Christ, and He will raise you out of the ashes and turn you into something truly beautiful.

Time is running short, and we do not want to be enemies of our loving Savior. We want to be His representatives, not these evil communist’s representatives.

His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. 4 By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.-1 Peter 1:3-4

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.-2 Corinthians 5:20

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.-1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.-James 1:27

May each of you princesses who follow this blog be the example of a godly woman and make disciples who “walk worthily” of the Lord like the Bible commands us to do. I love you and pray for you daily.
