How To Defeat The Two Forms Of Temptation

I pray for you precious sisters every day. I love you all and it is my great desire to see you walk in power, faithfulness, and the blessedness of the Lord by your obedience to Him. I want to talk to you ladies about the practical instructions given to us in several places in the bible: “Flee youthful lusts; Run from temptation.”

I believe as Christians, our flesh has been crucified because the bible tells us it has, but if you feed the flesh long enough, you can fall into sin. There are two forms of temptation. The first is what I’ll call Satanic Set-ups. Sometimes, the devil sets us up. In Job chapter one, Satan goes to God and asks if he can tempt Job to blaspheme by taking away his belongings. In Luke chapter four, Jesus is just following the Spirit as always, and Satan shows up to try and tempt him.

Then there’s Self-inflicted Temptation. This is what the bible describes as our own desires drawing us away and enticing us. When there are worldly desires in our heart that we have not crucified, that we have not put to death, these are the desires that can eventually lead us away from Christ and into sin.

In order to resist Satan and stand strong, we must first do this:

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5-14‬ ESV)

How do you practically put to death what is earthly or worldly in you? Jesus gives one answer:

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23)

First, simply deny yourself. If you desire to read an erotic novel, you refrain from doing so. If you desire to watch a worldly tv show, you do something else instead (preferably meditating on something excellent, pure, perfect, holy, while cleaning or serving someone for example).

Then there are other things we can do like not hanging out with immoral friends because bad company corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33), or cutting an ungodly relationship. Accountability, which simply means you are open and honest with another Christian, helps as well. You typically know what causes you to trip up and it ultimately comes down to who you will choose to serve: self or God.

I pray you choose Jesus, because He alone promises to have a good, acceptable, perfect, and pleasing will for your life that will only be discovered and experienced if you offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God and renew your mind through His Word (Romans 12:1-2).

Who else loves you as much as Jesus does? May the love of Christ compel you to daily pursue the right thing for His sake.

Know you worth,

Natasha ❤

I Am New And So Are You

We are ambassadors of Christ. We bear His name like a cross on our back. We have put on Jesus and taken off our old self. Everything we do, we do for His glory, not ours. We magnify His love and beauty, His holiness with our bodies, which we offer up to our Blessed Savior as living sacrifices.

We desire to be shining lights in the midst of this crooked generation. We are His light. We represent Him. And we do so out of love and devotion for Him and for the sake of the lost, that through us, they might taste and see that the LORD is good. We no longer live for ourselves; too much time has been wasted on selfish living in our past. We now live for the only King and LORD.

We are not of this world, so we do not act, talk or dress like they do. We stand out for Christ. We are unashamed of the gospel because we know by it we have been saved. We proclaim it boldly, knowing it is the truth based off the transformation we’ve experienced in our own lives.

We cling to Jesus because the devil is pulling at our sleeves, but in Christ, satan has no power over us. We hate sin because we know it brings death and dishonors, angers, and hurts our most Holy God. We don’t desire it. We don’t need it. As we read the Scriptures we understand we have all we need in Christ.

We refuse to compromise and taint our witness for Jesus, for He lived and died for the Father and for us, and we do not take His sacrifice lightly. We will stand in the truth by God’s keeping us through His powerful Holy Spirit who now lives in us. We have been redeemed from our old ways and now can walk in a new way: God’s way. He has promised us:

“Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord GOD.” (Ezekiel 11:19-21 NKJV)

This promise has been fulfilled in we who have surrendered our whole heart and desires in exchange for Jesus. By His power, may we always walk worthy of Him.

Becoming A Proverbs 31 Woman Day 14

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.” (‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭26‬ NKJV)

Oh I just love this verse! This one is simple and to the point, and it’s also easy to achieve. When you are a daughter of God the Father, you have surrendered your heart to His precious Son, Jesus, you receive His powerful Holy Spirit. And guess what two of the “fruits” or evidences of His Spirit are? Yup, kindness and wisdom.

So when you ask Him every day to fill you with His Spirit, to lead you, to shape you, you too, beloved, can speak wisdom and kindness to all.

It’s not complicated. Just believe. Trust that if you have given your life to Jesus, you now have access into everything God owns. In fact, God desires you to ask Him for more of His Spirit. By faith, make your requests known to God, and He will answer you.

I can attest to this amazing and wondrous fact! So do not be shy with your Father. Come boldly to Him, knowing He is fully able to equip you for every good work by the power of His Spirit who now lives in you.

Nothing is impossible for the child of God. Nothing. Jesus said it, so we just believe and receive it by faith and watch as it plays out in our life.

Proverbs 31 Woman Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You so much for richly supplying everything I need to live godly and please You while on this earth. God, by the powerful name of Your Son who has all authority, may You grant me the faith to walk in the holiness You’ve given me, to speak wisdom and kindness to all, and to please You in everything I do. Amen!

I Love Posting Stuff About Jesus, I Just Don’t Live It.

There are some who love to repost bible verses and those Christian photos with godly sayings all over their social media outlets, however, do not put to practice what they are sharing and “amening.”

You’re not fooling anyone. Okay, maybe some who don’t ever hang out with you in person, but those who actually know you, know you don’t practice what you preach, so when you do preach, it actually does more harm for God’s kingdom than it does benefit it, because people think, “If your God is so powerful and awesome, why are you still the same?” Or “Then why are you still doing [fill in whatever sin the self-professing Christian is still bound by]?”

Best case scenario: you repent, surrender to Christ and actually start living like Him by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Next best thing: you stop putting up a front.

Worse case scenario: You keep faking and turning people off from God/give Him a bad name.

I know this may sound harsh, but I’m being completely honest with you all. God is not to be mocked, and it is a mockery when you profess His holy commands with your mouth, but your heart is far from Him. People blaspheme God because so-called believers make Him seem profane by their sinful lifestyles. They make it look like either one: God is not almighty and powerful enough to destroy sin in a believer’s life, or two and worse yet: He’s cool with sin in a believer’s life and doesn’t expect His children to be transformed.

What are the angels in heaven flying around in heaven proclaiming about God’s character?

“The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” (‭Revelation‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬)

And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬)

We are commanded to live holy lives and Christ said:

“The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.” (‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭21‬)

Don’t you want to stop pretending and actually have Christ reveal Himself in a powerful way that truly transforms your life? He promises that those who obey His commands will indeed experience Him in a personal, authentic way, and will be loved by Him and His Father. Now, if Christ says those who obey Him will be loved by Him and His Father, what does that mean for those who don’t obey Him? I think it’s safe to conclude the opposite for them.

God did so love the world He gave His Son for them, but there comes a point where you continue to reject Him, and then He will reject you too. You can proclaim with your mouth till you’re blue in the face that you love and believe in Jesus, but if you are not obeying Him, you do not truly love Him, and you should not expect that He is okay with your falseness and sin and that you can just stroll right into heaven when you die and not be held accountable for every idle word you spoke.

Now I sympathize with the person who believes, but just doesn’t know the power of God and was never taught the truth about genuine repentance and faith in Christ. To you I strongly encourage going before the Lord in prayer and asking Him to forgive you and baptize you with His Holy Spirit that you may be empowered to live a holy life that is pleasing to Him. Then get to know Him and His Word and obey it by the power of His Spirit who now fills you.

But to those who know what the bible says about Christian conduct, and you got those verses memorized, and you play church and secretly you love your sin, I fear for you. God is a Judge and He avenges all wrong-doers. He sees the heart and isn’t pleased with your charade. He will expose you if you do not genuinely fear Him and repent. What is hidden in darkness will come to light eventually, and you will be crushed by the harsh and humiliating exposure God will put you through if you keep playing games with Him.

O how loving and merciful God is—to those who repent and trust in Him, living out the truth of the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit.

But how fierce and terrible He is to those who abuse His grace and never genuinely repent before Him.

For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God! (‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭30-31‬)

For yet in a very little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he draws back, I have no pleasure in him. But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and obtain life. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭37-39‬)

Becoming A Proverbs 31 Woman Day 11

She makes her own bed coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭22‬ HCSB)

Like we’ve already established, this Proverbs 31 woman is an excellent seamstress, but I don’t think every woman needs to become one in order to be a powerful and godly woman.

Apparently, the Proverbs 31 Woman dresses nicely as well. Again, this isn’t so much a character trait—outward appearance—but it’s mentioned here for a reason.

Not every woman can afford “fine linen.” I know I sure can’t. In fact, I go shopping for a few pieces of clothing literally once a year—if that, and it’s usually because someone bought me a Marshall’s gift card for Christmas.

I used to be really into how I look—before I surrendered to Christ. I confess, it’s been five years walking with my Lord and I only care less and less. I hardly wear make-up anymore. I don’t spend money on hair products (besides shampoo/conditioner). I still wear some of the same clothes I wore in high school. I don’t like designer stuff.

But, I think if I did have a good amount of extra money to spare, I may buy a few pretty affordable dresses. I like modest, dainty, flowy, princessy dresses that you can wear regularly, not just on special occasions. (Funny, before I surrendered to Christ I wore mostly black and dark colors, and hated bright colors and dresses).

I think this one’s somewhat of a toss-up. We know Paul says in the New Testament:

Your beauty should not consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold ornaments or fine clothes. Instead, it should consist of what is inside the heart with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very valuable in God’s eyes. For in the past, the holy women who put their hope in God also beautified themselves in this way, submitting to their own husbands, just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You have become her children when you do what is good and are not frightened by anything alarming. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭3-6‬)

So a godly woman doesn’t dress sloppy and immodestly, but she doesn’t go overboard with flashy jewelry and intricate hair-styles either.

It seems to me that she has a simple beauty. She doesn’t look like the world with their decadent jewelry and crazy hair-do’s. She doesn’t try to draw attention to herself with all that extra flash. She’s more concerned with her inward beauty, which is very valuable in the eyes of God, who—unlike other people—can see into the heart. So although a woman may be stunning on the outside, God looks beyond that and into her heart and turns away in disgust and anger at what He sees deep inside.

I care a lot more now about the purity of my heart than my outward beauty. It’s a work Christ has done in me, to have me truly grasp that He sees my heart and thoughts everyday and by His grace, He’s made both pure.

But dear sisters, know that sin in the heart is ugly to God, repulsive to Him. Remember how brutally Christ died for sin? That’s how much God hates it. The bible says God’s wrath was poured out on Christ, His wrath toward our sin. And remember how Revelation describes God’s righteous judgment on sinners? Sores, bloody rivers, huge locusts that sting people with scorpion-stingers, 100 lb hail that crushes those on earth. He loathes sin.

So may we trust His Words in Romans chapter 6 and 7, and no longer let sin have dominion over us. You can defeat it and literally not even sin in your mind. That is how pure Christ can make you if you take Him at His word. That’s how beautiful you can become, that the King of the universe peers into your heart and smiles and delights in what He sees, and looks forward to the day when He tells you in person: Well done, My good and faithful servant.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25-27‬)

Proverbs 31 Woman Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your truth. Please cleanse me by it. Please help me hide Your word in my heart that I may not sin against You. Help me to become pure and beautiful in Your sight, Lord. To care more about my inner beauty, which is a clean heart and mind. Help me turn my eyes from worthless things and let You sanctify me. Amen.

How To Have A Great Sex Life

For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice,”

We’re gonna chew on this first. God’s will: Be separated from the ideology of the world, i.e. how they do relationships, their views and opinions etc. and rather, be open and willing to be made pure so that you can live a holy life in God’s sight.

Paul specifically points out sexual sin in this verse. Why? Just as our current culture is obsessed with/worships sex, the culture in Thessalonica also worshiped sex. So this book speaks volumes in our day and age. Let’s continue.

4 That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor,

God expects us to know how to control ourselves and our lusts, whereas the world will tell you you’re just animals so give in to the urges and have as much sex as you want.

Now I don’t disagree with having as much sex as you want, but when you’re married. Not when you’re single and spreading STI’s.

Purity in God’s sight is controlling your hormones and waiting until marriage. And a tip to help you stay pure is to separate yourself from the profane, i.e. promiscuous friends, sexual films and music, inappropriate jobs and places etc. (For more tips on how to stay pure, read this post ) *Side note: I’m not saying holding hands or hugging is evil. Brotherly affection is encouraged in Scripture as long as it’s not causing you to lust. You can hug a guy you like and hold hands without wanting to go any further.

5 Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will,

Basically what I stated previously: not to splurge on your urges and have sex before marriage, because it is not God’s will for you.

6 That no man transgress and overreach his brother and defraud him in this matter or defraud his brother in business. For the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we have already warned you solemnly and told you plainly.

We’re not to convince our Christian boyfriend or girlfriend that it’s okay to have sex before marriage. God will avenge.

7 For God has not called us to impurity but to consecration [to dedicate ourselves to the most thorough purity].

Give yourself whole-heartily to God’s will. Do what you must to establish and maintain purity.

8 Therefore whoever disregards (sets aside and rejects this) disregards not man but God, Whose [very] Spirit [Whom] He gives to you is holy (chaste, pure).

I think this Scripture’s pretty straight forward.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 is only one of many passages on sexual purity. God takes this very seriously. He wants to protect you. Please heed His warnings, and as always,
