Is Christianity the Most Beautiful Religion?

Christianity is soooo beautifully simple AND practical!

If one were to just read the book of Matthew or John to see what Jesus said and did, or read one of Paul’s letters to the early church, Colossians, or Philippians, you’d see how…different Christianity is from other religions which are huge on either mystical, elusive, and abstract concepts and thoughts, or food-chain, climb-the-ladder type exaltation of participants, or severe bodily rejection and repetitious, ritualistic behaviors.

But not Biblical Christianity. Not the Christianity you find when you read the New Testament. The admonition and commands on how we ought to love one another and what that looks like practically are just so easy to grasp and refreshing and totally sensical and observable.

Indeed, it’s not like, dare I say, reincarnation, a mystical, never before observed idea. Even Christianity’s claims of resurrection from the dead has been observed time and again throughout history with people praying in Jesus’ name for life to return to someone who died and then it does.

So all this to say, I love the whole of Christianity, of what its Founder, Jesus, teaches. If there is anything more beautiful, more good for mankind, please, show me. It is for such teachings as these that I am totally unashamed to say I follow Jesus and His ways as recorded in the Bible:

“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” –‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Don’t worry about what people may think if you proclaim to be a Christian. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Our God is so good and wonderful. Get to know Him better so your confidence in that fact can be assured and you can more boldly share His love unabashedly with others. At the end of the day, it isn’t about whether or not someone likes you, it’s whether or not you loved Jesus and that person despite.

I’m A Woman & I Want To Use My Words To Build Men Up, Not Tear Them Down

We women can talk your ear off. God has given us a fountain of words that almost never run dry, and I think part of the reason is so we can use them to build men up.

Even if a man isn’t walking yet in His God-given role of leadership, that is no excuse for us women to talk down to them. The words of a woman are powerful: they can be used like mortar, helping build up a man brick by brick, or like a sledge-hammer, tearing him down floor by floor.

A gentle and quiet spirit is beautiful. A man will fall in love with a counterfeit woman of God who falsely flatters to get hers, or a truly godly woman who encourages and sees him as Christ does.

What kind of woman will you be to the men around you? Will you be like Jezebel, or Esther? Job’s wife, or Ruth?

Decide today you’re gonna use that mouth of yours for good and not evil, to build up, not tear down, to strengthen, not weaken, to heal, not wound.

If you’re an encourager, your future (or current) husband will be able to say, “I have found a good thing and have obtained favor with the Lord.”

Let Jesus Save You From Your Whack Boyfriend

Jesus isn’t trying to rain on your parade; He simply desires to protect you from the storms that come from disobedience.

God is Love. Every single thing He does and says is good because He is Love. When He commands you not to be with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), He commands it from love. He knows every outcome, and desires to spare you from that so you won’t die. Sin, which is disobedience to God, ends in death.

When your heart is broken by this man, you may despair, or become bitter, and then never come back to the arms of True Love because you don’t believe a real, pure love exists. Or you get so caught up in the emotions of fake love (infatuation) that you’re distracted from the all-amazing, all-consuming Real Love; Jesus Himself.

If a man isn’t pointing you to Christ, chances are, although he genuinely may not know it, he’s pointing you to himself and ultimately, to Satan. You might’ve gasped right now, but please allow me to explain.

All sin is rebellion against God. Satan rebelled against God, and the Bible says he was cast out of heaven and into earth. Paul writes to the Ephesians:

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1, 2)

So Satan is at work in the lives of those who are in disobedience to God. It’s very serious because Jesus taught that the enemy is the father of all lies, and that he comes to kill, steal, and destroy.

When you’re with someone under that influence, they may not literally murder you one day, but what you have is a lie. It’s not real love because God is Love and one cannot give true love, Jesus’ love, unless he has Jesus. All he can give is a counterfeit version of love, a worldly version which focuses on personality compatibility, physical attraction, and sexual gratification.

Whereas, when a man who has, knows, and loves Jesus loves you, he loves you with patience (he’ll wait for you till marriage and want what’s best for you), he will love you with kindness: he won’t put you down, he’ll build you up (please don’t confuse kindness with charm which is deceptive. Charm is seductive, flattery). When a man who is a true disciple of Jesus loves you, he will not look out for his own interests, but truly sacrifice for your best interest. He doesn’t boast in himself or his accomplishments, he boasts in who Jesus is. He doesn’t envy anyone, he doesn’t spend himself on trying to get fame, a title, or recognition. He is completely content and satisfied with whatever he has because he knows Christ is more than enough. He is not conceited, but humble. He will not applaud wickedness, rejoicing when others do sinful things, but he will rejoice when the Truth of Christ wins out.

My dear sisters, please deeply consider your relationship. If you know this man doesn’t love Jesus, how can he truly love you? I fear for you, that you will miss out on true love because you’re so distracted and trapped by the counterfeit love, and would even forfeit your soul for this fake love, choosing to continue in it rather than forsake it and run into the arms of Love Himself.

Love isn’t a feeling. It’s a person, and that person is Jesus. Anyone who does not have Him, loves you in a worldly, sensual way that is pleasing to the senses, but not satisfying to the spirit. Why? Because it is an earthly love, not a perfect heavenly love. Why would you compromise a divine, true love for a worldly lie?

I pray that you forsake all lies in your life and run to Truth, run to Love.

Run to Jesus.

God Just Electrocuted Me

Romans 6-8 has me really contemplating my walk with Jesus.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” (Romans 8:1-14 NLT)

A few things jump out and just shock my heart with electrifying words of truth that have somehow bypassed my mind and have thus darkened areas of my heart from the light of Truth.

If I belong to Jesus, the power of His very own Spirit has *freed* me from the power of sin.

Paul goes on to explain that in Christ who was sacrificed for us, God declared an end to sin’s control over our lives, and that we are no longer obligated to do what our sinful nature urges us to do.

This got me thinking: if the all-powerful Spirit of Christ lives in me, why am I still “struggling” with selfishness, impatience, and rudeness?

Then the Truth of God’s Word dawned: once you’re in Christ, sin is a choice. Every time I’m rude to my husband or impatient, it’s because I am choosing to be rather than choosing to take a moment when I’m tested to pray for strength to overcome and be led by the Spirit. As a Christian, because of what Jesus did, my, “old sinful self was crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in my life,” and I am, “no longer a slave to sin.” For when I, “died with Christ I was set free from the power of sin. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.” So I, “also should consider myself to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”(Romans 6:6, 7, 10, 11 NLT)

I literally should not be sinning, or “struggling” with sin. If anything, I should be battling temptation through the Spirit’s power, but by no means should I be giving in to it, and based on Scripture, even as believers, there are sins that “lead to death.” I am not merely saved by grace so I can keep on doing what I please. I am commanded to please God and that means to stop sinning. If I “spit upon His cross” and abuse His grace, I forfeit His sacrifice for me and I will go to hell.

This revelation caused me to receive another answered prayer: God, help me fear You more.

Holiness is not to be taken lightly. As a Christian, I have no excuse to sin. My only excuse is literally, I chose to do it rather than depend on God and obey His will.

I’m sharing this with my brothers and sisters because I know of others who are in sin and yet claim to be a Christian. They, like me, probably don’t realize they are on a path to hell and are not tapping into the power Christ provides to defeat sin. They also probably focus on the second part of what Christ’s death and resurrection accomplished for them which is salvation from hell, but they are forgetting of unaware of the first part which is salvation from sin.

God’s Word has an extremely high standard for Christians. So let us stop compromising and take our sanctification seriously. God gives us the power to conquer sin, so let us begin walking in that truth. If you desire sin more than holiness before our Lord, then choose sin and know that it will result in your spiritual death, your eternal destruction. I pray you please choose rightly.

“For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.” (Titus 2:11-15)

“And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.”(Hebrews 10:24-27)

Ladies, Is His Love Enough For You?

20130919-121052.jpg

Before starting on this post, I asked God what He wanted me to write to you ladies, and I heard Him whisper, “Just tell them about my love for them.”

I wrote a blog on my author website that focused on some truths I knew I should share with you. So I tweaked them as the Spirit led to hopefully shed light on just how intimately the Perfect Man in existence knows you and how fully He loves you.

1.) God thinks about you … all the time.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.-Psalms 139:17, 18

The God of the universe, the universe that contains billions of galaxies and stars, galaxies like the Milky Way which in light years (the length travelled by light in one year which is equal to 9,460,000,000,000 km) is 100,000 of those across, this God has you on His mind constantly.

2.) God watches you all the time.

You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.-Psalms 139:2, 3

He sees everything you do and everything you go through. He cares about your every breath and your every step. He literally catches every tear from the amazing eyes He gave you:

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.-Psalms 56:8 NLT

3.) God listens to you.

When Christ, the perfect Son of God, died on that Roman cross at Golgotha 2,000 years ago and then rose from the dead three days later (witnessed by over five hundred people alive during that time), He became the Mediator, the High Priest by which we humans can enter the presence of Almighty God and make request of Him.

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.-Hebrews 4:14-16 NLT

Not only does God listen to you, but check this out:

And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.-Revelation 5:8 NLT

Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God’s people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of God’s holy people, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out.-Revelation 8:3, 4 NLT

Your prayers are so precious to Him, He has them presented to Him in golden bowls by angels, and your prayers are mixed with amazing smelling incense.

4.) God knows you intimately.

When a woman says: “no one knows me better than my husband” she is wrong.

There is no greater, no deeper kind of intimate knowledge than the knowledge God has of us.

He knows every centimeter of your outer frame:

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.-Luke 12:7

He knows every centimeter of your inner frame:

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.-Psalms 139:13

And He declares you beautiful:

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.-1 Peter 3:4 NLT

Listen to me, O royal daughter; take to heart what I say. Forget your people and your family far away. For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. The bride, a princess, looks glorious in her golden gown. In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king …-Psalms 45:10, 11, 13, 14 NLT

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.-Psalms 139:14 NLT

He knows your every thought:

You understand my thought afar off.-Psalms 139:2

For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.-Psalms 139:4

But Jesus knew their thoughts …”-Matthew 12:25, 9:4, Luke 5:22, 9:37 (and several more!)

And He knows your heart:

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”-1 Samuel 16:7

And Jesus said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts.-Luke 16:15

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.-Hebrews 4:13

5.) God loves you

Your Heavenly Creator sees your every move, hears your every word, knows your every thought and motive yet still He loves you.

Can you imagine if you had a projector strapped to your head that was able to expose your every thought and motive 24/7 and you had to walk around with it and could never take it off? How many people would still love you? Maybe a few people would last a while, but what if they had to live with you 24/7 and go everywhere you go, in public and behind every closed door? Would they still love you then? Would they die for you?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.-Romans 5:6-11 NLT

Jesus loves you. You are His most prized possession. Sit in His presence today and just ask Him to please help you understand more fully the depth of His intimate love for you.
